So recently, I worked with a co-worker of mine on an issue where multiple subscription emails were being sent to the same user group. At first, the solution was eluding us since the email notifications had largely the same content and were being sent at the same time. What was even more confusing was that one notification had my email and the other had my co-workers email address. It wasn’t until we reviewed the subscription settings through another user that we realized what the potential solution was.
When we looked under subscription settings for the third user, we did not see any settings available, which was a key finding for the solution. Apparently with the version 1 (aka classic) workspace (the current workspace environment that this issue occurred in), you are only able to see the subscriptions that you have setup for your own account! Once that was established, I was able to work with my co-worker and delete the subscription that I setup to where there is only one subscription active.
Speaking of the classic workspace, Microsoft is planning to deprecate the workspace within the next year in favor of the current version, which gives members of the workspace more flexibility in orchestrating access to the workspace and access to the contents within. Admins already have the ability to stop implementing for their respective tenants. With that being said, if your particular implementation is using the workspaces created in Office 365 Groups, you may want to engage your admin about converting your workspace to the current version before it’s too late. Here is more information about the big switch.
